Almost Great

Can almost say it's a great pump, doesn't empty me very well and Duck valve keeps falling of mid pump on both flanges. Has become really annoying and a constant hassle. Other than that it's good

Hi Audrey, unfortunately all our pumps come with a 24mm shield in the milk accessory kit, and this cannot be changed as it is sealed. You would need to order additional sizes separately.

How do I assess my breast shield size please? Am due March 2024. I used medela freestyle before, can the breast shield fit your pumps of the size if the standard 24mm does not fit right? Thanks.

Hi Stacie, you really cannot assess shield size needs, till your baby has arrived, your milk is in, and you are pumping. Even then, you might need a few weeks to see the best option for you as things can be a little inflamed initially, which is why lots of people find the shield size that comes with the pump works well - at least to start. We suggest starting there, and then explore shield fit when you are at home and a bit more relaxed.

Hi there For first time use do I need to sanitize the backflow protector parts? I understand that the tubes don't need sanitizing but what about the backflow? Just trying to work out what needs sanitizing first time, and what needs sanitizing after use. Thank you! Emma

Hi Emma - yes - they should be sterilised before first use and cleaned and thoroughly dried between uses. Before you start pumping, sterilise the pump components except the tubing and the pump itself :-) The tubing should never get wet, as it doesn't come into contact with milk, so doesn't need sterilising or washing and to do so risks moisture and mould in your pump motor. If it gets dusty you can wipe it over with a damp cloth. You can use any sterilising process you like. :) Sterilise your Spectra breast pump components before using them for the first time, then follow the guidance of your health care provider as to how to best clean your shield kit parts between uses. Your health care provider will be the best person to guide you through the different ideas and guidelines about what will be best for you and your baby, given your situation... it can be really confusing with so many studies and opinions about what is best. ;) Sterilising or the use of a dishwasher regularly will mean that the parts will need replacing much more often, so we recommend having spare parts on hand at all times to avoid not being able to use your pump.

Hi there - all our pumps come with 24mm shields as part of a sealed milk collection kit, so cannot be changed I am afraid. We really doubt you will need a larger size, as when assessed correctly, we have never found anyone who needed larger than a 24mm - in fact usually, people need smaller.
